Large scale geometry of groups: further applications |
Aims of the summer school:
Geodesic flow in negative curvature has many fascinating aspects. The
summer school will give an introduction into this hyperbolic dynamics,
in particular concentrating at the long time behavious.
A fascinating application of hyperbolic flow has been found
by Farrell and Jones, who use it to compute the L-theory of group rings
(via the proof of the Farrell-Jones isomorphism conjecture), which has
been widely generalized by Lueck and coauthors. The second part of the
course will look at these applications and further developments around
it. |
