Ramanujan Prize in Mathematics 2008 for Dr. Thiruvalloor Eesanaipaadi Venkata Balaji (Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology Madras) 

Dr. T.E. Venkata Balaji has been awarded "The Ramanujan Prize in Mathematics 2008" by the University of Madras. The award is to be conferred in the ensuing convocation of the University. The communication from the University says that the prize is for "the carefully researched and wellwritten paper 'Linebundlevalued ternary quadratic forms over schemes', (Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 208, 237259, 2007), chosen as the best research paper written on any branch of Mathematics". The paper was written during Dr. Balaji's Postdoctoral Fellowship from 2003 to 2005 at the Research Training Group "Groups and Geometry" (Graduiertenkolleg 535 "Gruppen und Geometrie, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft). The research paper was considered among those written and published during the period 01.07.2003 to 30.06.2008, and which have not have been submitted for publication earlier than 01.07.2003.
