" Loop group geometry and gerbes "
Brylinski constructed a "transgression" functor that takes
gerbes over a manifold to line bundles over the loop space of the
manifold. This establishes a relation between higher-categorical,
finite-dimensional geometry on the manifold, and ordinary,
infinite-dimensional geometry on its loop space. I will talk about a
group-version of this relation, where the manifold is a Lie group and
the line bundles become central extensions of the loop group.
