Courant Research Center Göttingen: Higher order structures in Mathematics

Principal investigators

One of the most pronounced characteristics of modern mathematics and theoretical physics is the unifying role of structural aspects, allowing to establish and exploit interrelations between different fields. It originated in algebra, and has now spread to geometry, analysis, and quantum physics. The research center "Higher order structures in Mathematics" will focus on applications of this approach to problems in algebraic geometry, number theory, quantum physics and topology.

Description of the research goals

Structure of the center:

The core of the center will be three Junior Research groups:

Non-commutative geometry, Algebraic geometry and topology, Symmetries in number theory

Events: Courant Colloquium Göttingen, Oct 12-14, 2007
